Are you being Thankful?

Be thankful for what you have, it is a good life you are living.

After I had been complaining to my friend, about things not going the way I wanted, she calmly told me this: You should be more thankful for what you have. And appreciate it more.

I have been watching her go through a lot, so I understand where this comes from. She had a good life once, but now there is nothing left of it.

Before I could answer her, I had to do some mental research. Think things throughout, and see beyond the cloud that has been hanging over me for a while now.

My initial thought was: Of course! I know what I have. But my second thought was: Do I really know and am I being thankful?

There are good and bad days, moments, and years. Of course. But I have learned that there is always someone who has it worse.

My friend is right though. I have so much to be thankful for and yet there are days when I can not see it. When I wonder if there is something better for me, somewhere else.

On those days I let my dreams float and let my imagination paint them in colours I might not have added, normally.

Dreams. Some of them come true, while some are simply not made to be anything else than a dream.

Keep that in mind: It is so easy to take things and people for granted. Yes, “things”. You buy something. Use it and at some point, it is broken. So then you buy another one.

But how about what you can not buy? Your family and friends?

Do you have a thankful mind regarding them. or do you take them for granted as well?

In my work, I see a lot of loneliness and as a result of that, also a lot of depression. And after the passing of an individual, there are a lot of regrets.

Because then it hits everyone involved that now it is too late to say those words, that should have been said. Or do the things that should have been done.

Being thankful does not cost you anything and neither do the actions followed upon it. But is priceless in the end.

There is always someone who has it better than you. In your eyes. In reality, however, you do not have any idea of the sacrifices that person has made to live the life he is living.

Would you be able to give up what hen had to leave behind, to reach the same heights as hen, without regrets?

Greetings Serena
