Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day, to those who celebrate.

Mother’s Day — awesome! Breakfast in bed, sweet drawings from the children, hugs, and kisses. Maybe some chocolate and something quickly wrapped in paper (since dad had forgotten what day it is, and had to rush to the nearest gas station to get something).

Every Mums dream. But mine.

A while back we went to my favorite bookstore and there I found the book above books. The book that later was adapted into the movie that became my inspiration to write fantasy stories: “The Vampire Chronicles”, by Anne Rice.

I may have to mention that this book is classified as gothic horror and a vampire novel. So it is not for the light-hearted.

The world that was portrayed in this film was so different compared to my life and I think that that triggered something that made me want to do more, with my writing.

So when I found this book, it was hard for me to lay it down. However, the price was higher than I was prepared to pay at the moment. My daughter disagreed, so we ended up taking the book with us.

And this morning she gave it to me as my Mother’s Day gift.

A little about the films adapted from the book:

The first sequel to the book came out as a movie in 1994: Interview with the Vampire. With Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and Kirsten Durst. Even though the book received mixed reviews from critics, the film received Oscar nominations as well as a Golden Globe nomination.

Later another sequel of the book was also adapted into a movie in 2002: The Queen of the Damned. With Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah.

For many Anne Rice was the Queen of fantasy. And for me, to have this book in my collection is pretty awesome!
