Last year a friend of the family decided to end his life. He brought his six-year-old son to school, and a couple of hours later was found dead. There are more questions than answers to why he did it. But when I started to read Counting Stars, the emotions of the book hit me hard at times.

This book is filled with a mix of emotions, heartbreak, sadness and yet beautiful.

After losing her closest friend: her mother, Brantley Thornton a 17-year-old girl is struggling with depression and the desire for self-demise.

Brantley is preparing herself to depart from this world, yearning to reunite with her mother among the stars. However, fate brings Caspian Marks into her life.

Caspian Marks believes in the inherent potential for redemption within every person. As their roads cross, he courageously opens his heart and finds himself on a mission to heal the depths of her troubled soul.
